LET’S TALK ABOUT THE COMMUNITY PLAN!

DROP IN SESSIONS

The Community Drop-In Sessions are open and welcoming gatherings taking place at the Community Space within Seven Sisters Market. They are a space for residents, traders, local organisations and visitors to come together, learn more about the Community Plan and everything we’ve been working on so far, while sharing ideas for the future of the market and the community space.

These sessions are an opportunity to connect, reflect on the market’s history and culture, and imagine together how a future permanent market can better support the community.

We invite everyone to bring their own ideas, experiences and hopes for the space.

Throughout the programme, organisations such as London Renters Union and United Voices of the World will also be joining us to offer information, support and services for the community.

Market tales

Market Tales is a cultural–community project, that aims to preserve histories of migration, resistance, and collective organising that are central to the CBS’s identity and mission, through diverse creative workshops, collage, music and film.

Together, these interconnected strands advance the aims, capacity, and long-term sustainability of the Community Benefit Society by reinforcing its role as the custodian, advocate, and coordinating body for the Seven Sisters Market community.

Funded through the British Academy research project Beyond Gentrification: Latin American Market Tales in London, with researcher Dr Verónica Posada Álvarez as principal investigator from the University of Derby. Additional support has been secured through the University of Derby's Early Career Research Fund to expand the CBS’s consultation on the Community Plan by activating the Seven Sisters Market community space as an Urban Room.
