The Wards Corner Community Plan proposes a community-led refurbishment of the celebrated Seven Sisters Indoor Market (Latin Village) and historic Wards Buildings to create a new cultural & social hub for everyone.

The buildings will be democratically owned by the Wards Corner Community Benefit Society’s members and run for the benefit of all who live and work in Tottenham and beyond.

OUR Community Benefit Society

Born from 20 years of community engagement and campaigning, the Wards Corner Community Benefit Society (CBS), made up of local residents, workers and market traders, aims to manage the building.

Currently, we are supporting the success of the Seven Sisters Market traders as they return to the site, due to reopen this Summer 2025. We can’t wait!

We will be managing the market’s community space, with an exciting programme of activities that gives value to our communities, a taster of the Community Plan. There will be workshops, advice drop-ins and much more. What would you like to see in the space? Have your say here!

Our Mission

To operate the market under the key principles of:

  • Self-management: the restored building will be owned and managed by market traders and the local community

  • Affordable rents: rents for market traders will be maintained at existing levels

  • New community space: accessible social spaces, low-cost office space, an expanded market and dedicated community facilities will be created

  • Community Wealth Building: all profits will be reinvested into the upkeep of the building and funding further local community initiatives

Wards Corner

The Wards Corner building and the upper two floors of the market have remained vacant for nearly fifty years.

The Community Plan will create more space for traders on the ground floor and open up the upper floors to provide extra retail, work and community spaces for local small businesses and organisations.

New lifts, staircases and accessible toilets will allow the market to welcome people of all ages and abilities.
